Manfredonia, Ugo Galli counters Matteo La Torre: "We reported a real violation, not fake news. We need fewer slogans and more respect for the rules."

The political back-and-forth in Manfredonia continues between Ugo Galli , Forza Italia city councilor and candidate for the Puglia Regional Council, and Matteo La Torre , city administrator with operational responsibilities. At the center of the controversy is the case of a car parked in a disabled parking space on the city's seafront, near the municipal offices.
Following La Torre's post, which called the accusations leveled against him without directly naming him "fake news," Galli issued a lengthy rejoinder on social media. "We didn't mention any names in our post," he wrote, "however, La Torre's statements prompt us to respond. We engage in political activity while always pursuing the interests of the community, protecting the most vulnerable. In this case, we have reported conduct that clearly violates the rules of the Highway Code protecting the disabled."
The candidate also clarified that "the car in question belongs to a municipal administrator," adding: "We therefore don't understand the surprise. Instead, we suggest a complete shift in the way we approach politics: fewer slogans and selfies, more facts and compliance with the rules, especially when they serve to protect the most vulnerable."
Galli finally reiterated that his political group's efforts will continue to focus on monitoring and reporting irregularities. "During the election campaign, we will continue to pay attention to distortions emanating from the municipal administration. A little modesty, especially in these serious cases, wouldn't hurt."
